A bit about myself

Born in Tokyo in 1994, I grew up with greenery, traditional Japanese landscapes around me. I have studied the basics of art privately under Toyoko Ishikawa, Japanese artist and educator, since 1998 in her studio.
As my parents had lived in Aix-en-Provence in the South of France for years before I was born, I had always been dreaming of visiting France and Europe to make paintings there.
I have a bachelor’s degree in international liberal studies from Waseda University in Tokyo in 2016 and a master’s degree in cross-cultural mediation at different universities in Aix-en-Provence and Rennes in France in the following years. During that period, I produced lots of paintings mostly with watercolours and acrylics, as I travelled to different cities and regions of France, Italy and the UK. The natural and cultural richness of Europe fascinates me and let me to see my home country, Japan, from a different angle. My artworks have drawn on this experience and I make paintings to share my sincere respect for the natural and cultural diversity in the world.
As for the medium, I have been using principally watercolours and acrylics while I am experimenting with different mediums and materials to develop my artistic expression.
My landscape and cityscape paintings created in France and in the UK will be exhibited at the "Rencontres d’Arles de la photographie" in Arles, France in July 2019 and at the Barbican Library Foyer space in London in 2020.
